Choose either a structured MSc or research-focused MRes, whatever works for you.

About this course

Are you ready to take the next step in your career in occupational health, safety and environmental management? This part-time distance learning programme offers opportunities through two distinct pathways: MSc and MRes.

As an MSc student, you’ll complete taught modules during the first year and the initial semester of the second year, ending with a six-month research dissertation. On the other hand, as an MRes student, your emphasis will be on research methodology modules, paving the way for a 12-month, 120-credit research project centred around workplace-related topics in your field.

With our core modules, you’ll flex your skills in research methods, literature review, and research project design. MSc students will explore fundamental subjects such as advanced health, safety and environmental risk management and CSR in health, safety and environmental management.

You’ll also have the flexibility to select additional modules in areas such as disaster management, safety assessment, flood risk, and mental health at work.

Previous students have come from diverse organisations, including BAE Systems, the oil and gas industry, emergency services, NHS, and renewable energy sectors.
